Meet Dr. Aura Rivera

Periodontist

Dr. Aura Rivera is a periodontist providing comprehensive periodontal and implant care with a focus on predictable outcomes, patient comfort, and personalized treatment. She believes the best results come from evidence-based care, open communication, and close collaboration with patients and their referring dentists.
A Florida native, Dr. Rivera was raised in the Orlando area. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences from the University of Central Florida before completing both her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree and specialty training in Periodontics at Nova Southeastern University College of Dental Medicine. During her final year of residency, she was selected to serve as Chief Resident.

Dr. Rivera has extensive training in a wide range of periodontal and implant procedures, including:

  • Periodontal plastic surgery
  • Soft tissue grafting
  • Periodontal regeneration
  • Dental implant placement
  • Bone and ridge augmentation
  • Sinus augmentation
  • Management of complex periodontal and peri-implant conditions

Her specialty training also included digitally guided implant dentistry and interdisciplinary treatment planning, allowing her to approach each case with careful attention to both immediate needs and long-term oral health.

Committed to Advancing Periodontal Care

In addition to patient care, Dr. Rivera has been actively involved in periodontal and implant research. During her residency, her primary research focused on differences in the local and systemic immune response associated with moderate and advanced periodontitis.
Her academic work has included clinical and research presentations at professional meetings, including the American Academy of Periodontology, EuroPerio, and the Florida Association of Periodontists.
Dr. Rivera currently serves on the Academy of Osseointegration Young Clinicians Committee and is a member of several professional organizations, including:

Dr. Rivera believes every patient deserves care that is individualized to their specific needs. She takes the time to help patients understand their diagnosis and treatment options while working closely with referring dentists to provide a coordinated approach to care.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, Dr. Rivera is proud to serve patients throughout the Tampa Bay community and help make specialized periodontal care more comfortable and approachable.
Outside of dentistry, Dr. Rivera enjoys staying active, traveling, trying new restaurants, and spending time with family and friends.
